Mythology: The story of Castor & Pollus, the Discuri
The story of Castor and Pollux represents the story of the dual nature of Gemini. The twins appear in several popular myths including the Story of Helen of Troy as well as Jason and the Argonauts.
In the beginning, Zeus caught sight of the beautiful, Leda who was already married to Tyndareus, the King of Sparta. The twins were believed to be half brothers, one a mortal and one a demi-god.
When Castor died in battle, Pollux petitioned Zeus to either let him share his immortality with his slain brother or let him spend eternity in Hades along side Castor. Zeus allowed them to share the immortality; One brother would dwell in Hades while the other would live on Mt. Olympus. The next day they would switch.
